Department: Maintenance Director
Reports To: General Manager
Position Summary: Oversee all aspects of facility maintenance, ensuring efficient and safe operations of Ohiya Casino & Resorts physical infrastructure, including managing departmental staff, developing maintenance plans, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to the following:
- Must be knowledgeable of all casino systems such as generators, fire pond, septic, fire alarm, HVAC, smoke ventilation, heating & cooling, facility electric and plumbing, sprinkler, swimming pool, and other systems the casino has.
- Must be able to maintain and operate facility equipment such as forklift, snowplow, snow blowers, and mowers.
- Be familiar with drywall repair, replacement, painting, plumbing, and carpet repair.
- Will maintain a complete log of tasks and work to be completed.
- Will be on call for facility problems while not on duty.
- Will determine any repairs or upgrades needed in the casino or hotel and complete them promptly and efficiently.
- Must be able to work on heights on ladders, one-man lifts, and scissor lifts.
- Responsible for protecting Casino Assets and Maintenance Inventory.
- Develop and implement Maintenance policies and procedures.
- Will obey all regulations in the employee handbook, MIC’s, and SOP’s set forth by the casino and NIGC.
- Supervise and lead maintenance staff, including porters/floor attendants, and contractors, ensuring they are well-trained and equipped.
- Evaluate staff performance, provide training, and development opportunities.
- Oversee repairs, renovations, and upgrades to the facility.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage and coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized services.
- Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the facility is maintained.
- Create and monitor the facility’s maintenance budget. Analyze costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures.
- Address and mitigate potential risks.
- Must be able to maintain the casino swimming pool, hot tub, weight room, and arcade.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred. High school graduate or equivalent, with experience maybe a substitute.
- Prior Maintenance experience in a related field.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and relevant safety regulations.
- Knowledge of maintenance equipment, tools, maintenance systems and policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older
- Valid Driver’s License and have transportation
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and adhere to the drug/alcohol free workplace policy.
- Able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Must be in good health, take and pass a health physical.
- Pass Personal Background Check
- Obtain and Maintain a Key Gaming License from the Ohiya Casino & Resort Santee Sioux Nation Gaming Commission.
- Adhere to all Santee Sioux Nation Ohiya Casino & Resort Rules and Regulations and Minimum Internal Controls.
- Understand Santee Dakota Historical, contemporary history, and culture that relates to Ohiya Casino & Resort mission, purpose, and employment.
- Work in a Smoke-Filled Environment.
- Ability to multitask in a demanding environment and ability to pay attention to detail.
- Work assigned promotions that will include nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event the casino falls short of staff, required to work a mandatory 6-day work week.
- Must have good interpersonal relation skills, maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, customers, and coworkers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on Ohiya Casino & Resort business and guests.
- Includes all duties of Maintenance Assistant when unavailable.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Work will be performed in a loud, smoke filled, fast paced environment.
