Facilities Technician (Maintenance)

Job Purpose of Facilities Technician: $2,000 HIRING BONUS!

Carry out general maintenance and transportation functions in order to best serve the needs of the clients of Opportunity Living.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all phases of client transportation which includes days, evenings, and weekends
  • Provide general maintenance of all buildings and grounds of Opportunity Living and other areas as assigned.
  • Work in cooperation with the Director of Facilities Management in developing a preventative schedule for all major pieces of equipment.
  • Work with the Director of Facilities Management in coordinating with all departments to best serve the needs of the clients.
  • Arrange for routine care and maintenance of occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) appliances, wheelchairs, micro-switches, utensils and adaptive equipment for clients.
  • Serve as advocate for client rights.
  • Maintain flexibility of schedules to provide adequate coverage.
  • Assist in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the organization by performing all duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Maintain professional competency by participating in continuing education, in-services, and personal growth experiences.
  • Protect the privacy of clients and staff by maintaining confidentiality of records and personal information and follow all policies and procedures under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Qualifications of Facilities Technician:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical applications preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in maintenance and/or driving a bus with passengers preferred.
  • Must have a sincere respect for and desire to work with persons with disabilities.

  • Must have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
  • Clear tuberculosis screening.
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Dependent Adult/Child Abuse, and Behavior Management Program, or other training as assigned per specific job duties.
