Direct Support Professionals are the heartbeat of providers serving adults with intellectual disabilities. The DSP plays a vital role in helping adults with intellectual disabilities reach their goals and aspirations through various forms.
The DSP offers a variety of assistance such as helping with the implementation of person-centered goals and outcomes, administering and documenting medication through a state issued certification, documenting activities of daily living, and transporting individuals to and from community integrated settings.
The PRN position requires the DSP to work at least 8 hours a month but no more than 63 hours a month. The PRN position offers no benefits.
At a minimum, a GED is required, and the applicant must be at least 18 years old. Experience in the field of intellectual disabilities is helpful but not required as we provide a training curriculum designed to help the applicant acclimate to this service type and culture. The applicant must be able to pass a drug test and a national criminal background check per state requirements. Please note that not all findings will disqualify the applicant from employment. In addition, the applicant needs to be able to work well with others and supervisors and possess a valid driver’s license.
